The Welcome Bap is found next door to the main church building in Holyrood Street. It has been part of the church for 18 years. At present it is open Monday to Saturday from 10am - 12 noon.
The BAP originates from a shorten form of “Baptist” and at one time a speciality was a bread bap with a choice of fillings. The name “Bap” has now reappeared on the menu, with bacon as its tasty filling. We do try to serve as many fair trade products as possible; this now covers all our hot drinks. Our cakes are homemade by members of our church. The Bap was opened to give a window to the Church and to build bridges into the community. Today it has become a meeting place for friends, and a refuge for the lonely. The 3rd Monday of the month sees a lunch club take place, mainly to cater for those who usually eat alone, which ends with a short epilogue. The Welcome Bap is also used for Alpha courses and other smaller meetings. Our prayer box, found on the side of the counter is also a way our customers can ask us to pray for them. Each morning the staff starts the day remembering the many needs which have been requested for prayer.
