The bees were placed inside a wrap made of rice paper and lettuce - some other cooked meats were placed in it as well - you wrap it all up and dip it into the sauce and then eat it. The really bad part was the texture not the taste. The worst moment was when one of our translators scooped a bowlful of bees and scoffed whole mouthfuls at a time on their own!!! The frogs tasted a bit like chicken. But I still struggled to eat one. I managed it however. Another slightly sad day for me today as we visited a couple of homes in this city. At the first one - it was quite small with a very steep staircase. Don was really pleased that some alterations had been carried out that he was very satisfied with. It was a very typical Vietnamese home and had a downstairs living area and smaller upstairs area, with two very small separate bedrooms, and an even smaller top area up more steps. I was OK with all of this until I was told that seven people lived in it. There was only one bed - like a z-bed. The others slept on the floor. We visited some people at one of the local hospitals this morning as well. Pretty impressed with that as it seemed very clean. All the walls were tiled which to me seemed a good idea. Chinese herbal medicine was used here (no operations) and it had its own herb garden. It's a bit cloudier today but still very warm.’
